new york - sari gueron - spring/summer 2009

the naive charm of sari gueron's past collections was injected with a little bit of sex this season. while her clothes for spring/summer 2009 still retained the little girl sweetness which has become a trademark for the designer, gueron experimented with transparency in the form of lace and trimmed with ultra feminine ruffles but managed to avoid the execution of being too sacharine. she avoided all the tooth-achy sweetness attached to lace by shaping the fabric into modern silhouettes with an urban edge. although she showed voluminous shapes and body con dresses on the same runway, the lenghth of the dresses exposed miles of leg adding to the seductive quality of the clothes. the lightness and easyness of gueron's designs fits perfectly with a warmer season that showcases her ability to design clothes that are modern and flatters the wearer with out compromising any comfortability. the strenght of the young new york designers is their ability to create clothes for the urban clientel yet is perfectly palpable to consumers who doesn't live in the world's many metropolises. and sari gueron is perhaps one with the most universal appeal. her clothes are just simply pretty clothes that young girls anywhere gets excited about. and since its been proven that nothing sells better than sex, well with this collection, gueron might just have her most successfull commercial season to date.
